Gratitude

Something was different yesterday when I woke up.  I felt normal.  The new normal.  And I smiled.  I smiled because back in January when we found out that the treatments had failed; Sandy asked me if I was going to ‘OK’ and I told her that I would be ‘OK’ with God’s help.  Yesterday,  I knew I was on road to ‘OK’ and I wanted to share that with you and say thank you!

Father, I want to thank you first!  Your love for me has been amazing as you lead me through these difficult days.

Thank you all for your prayers and the messages of support for Sandy and our family over the last year or so.  This is especially true for these last difficult weeks. I cannot explain it, but I know we are being spiritually supported in this journey.

I know I am not done.  There is more grief to come and tears to cry, and more healing to take place.  But with the Lord’s help I know I will be ‘OK’.  I was led to Psalm 139 a few weeks ago and this passage talks about what this feels like.

“You have searched me, Lord,  and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise;  you perceive my thoughts from afar.  You discern my going out and my lying down;  you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before,  and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. ”

So I’m hemmed in with His hand on my shoulder.

Gratefully yours,

Mark

At Rest

Sandy peacefully passed away this afternoon surrounded by her family.

Words cannot express our gratitude for your prayers.

I’ll post arrangements when available.

Quick update

Many of you are asking about visiting.  Our family simply asks for this time to be alone with Sandy.

Others are asking for an address to mail personal notes.  It’s 731 Bankshire Dr, Suwanee GA. 30024

Peace in the Journey

Over these long months,  we have been blessed through your prayers with the peace from the Lord.  Today I ask for more.

Last evening, Sandy’s sister Vicki and brother in law Montee were visiting us at home when she started having seizures.  Hospice was called and she was later taken to Gwinnett Medical for early treatment before moving to an in-patient hospice facility late last night. The staff here tell me that Sandy’s time is short…perhaps a day or two.

Our hearts (all of us) are broken by this turn so early in the process.  But, we are praying that Sandy would not suffer any longer.

So today I pray for peace for Sandy and our family.  I also pray for peace for you.  Your love, compassion, and the downpour of support has been huge for us.

It’s a big part of why I can honestly say “my anchor holds within the veil.” In spite of my grieving, I can truly celebrate what Sandy is about to experience!
